Scrolling through my iPhone’s web browser today at the health club, I was struck by how all 8 open pages were both powerful and completely encouraging to me. And reminded that so often we as believers are encouraged to think about how we spend our money and time … but the Internet? Is that a treasure, too? I’ve heard many a sermon encouraging me to look at my checkbook or my calendar, but my web browser?
Yet the question remains, how DO we share our time online? Is it useful and valuable? Worthwhile? Building others up and honoring to God?
God’s word says, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be.” (Luke 12:34). Clearly, your social media use is a relational tool that can also be used for powerful good!
Later today, I ran across a She Seeks Tweet reminding me of this idea, and was encouraged to donate a Facebook status or a Tweet like this, to help stop sex trafficking. So, I just want to encourage you to be mindful of how you are spending your online time. Keep up on your real-life relationships, and may your virtual ones do some mighty great things! If you’re up for it, send a Tweet or list this as your Facebook status, and then add a comment or two to the She Seeks Page!
