Five answers.

If only life were that simple, right?

In her book, What Happens When Women Say Yes to God, Lysa TerKeurst describes five questions that have helped her discern the will of God and hear His voice.  Five questions that cause us to ask, “Say what!?  Did I really hear God’s voice??”  Here they are: Continue Reading…

A few years ago, I had the privilege of seeing Matthew West live in concert.

And then, actually meeting him in person a few months later!

The chance to meet Matthew West!

What struck me most about this inspiring artist is that not only is he a gifted and talented singer-songwriter, but that he has an incredible heart that moves people to action, not just to a beat!  He grew up not far from where I live and it was a privilege for my daughter and me to meet him. Today is a special blog post for a host of reasons. Number one, it’s my birthday! And number two, today is a chance to honor women in my life who have shaped me as a mom, a leader, and a friend who’s left a lasting legacy.  This is also a chance to continue to say how very Blessed I am.

Thanks to the Legacy Campaign at Proverbs 31 Ministries, today is a day to honor the incredible legacy of others who have gone before me.  Today’s post is a continuation as we participate in an Online Bible Study of Stressed-Less Living by Tracie Miles. Continue Reading…

Yesterday was one of those days where I was reminded yet again that true ministry is not about what I DO — even though I felt like I crossed a lot of things off the ol’ To-Do List.  That’s all still such garbage (Philippians 3:8-9).   In reality, it’s always about what God, thru His son Jesus, has DONE.  And I, for one, am so very thankful for that!

Last December, I was reading a note in my study bible about how the prophet Jeremiah often felt like a failure, when the reality is he was hugely successful simply because he was faithful and available.  I pray that can always be said of me, as well.

When I was in college, we often talked about wanting to be Faithful, Available and Teachable women.  But I was never crazy about the acronym: F.A.T.!  So, after reading the reference to Jeremiah, I gave that idea a twist called F.L.O.A.T.    Faithful. Leader.  Obedient.  Available.  Teachable.  Then I wrote this poem last year for some women I was discipling.  I gave it to them at Christmas with a miniature sailboat ornament.  Enjoy! Away

Lord, help me to F.L.O.A.T. away with you.

Help me to be Faithful and true.

Make me the Leader you want me to be.

Who’s always Obedient, with a heart after Thee.

May I be Available to Your will.

And forever be Teachable, quiet, and still.

This sailboat ornament represents someone who is right in the center of God’s will.  Not leaning too far in either direction, lest we go in circles or far worse, capsize the boat.  But rather, staying right on course, following the leadings of the Holy Spirit.  And able to see extraordinary places and

 do incredible things, because

God is truly guiding the ship.
